We Want to Stay

Well its all over and we have to go.  The good news, with freestyle we get to leave at our convenience.  We decided to have one last leisure breakfast in Versailles (menu).  When we arrived we were informed that the food inspectors had boarded and the kitchen was going to be much slower today.   We were told we may be able to eat faster at the Market Cafe if we were in a hurry.  We chose to wait , and it was a good decision.  Even with the wait to be seated and the slower kitchen, we only spent 10 to 15 minutes more than we had in the past.  The girls got to say good-bye to Jose while we enjoyed a nice leisurely meal.

As we were in a suite we had VIP baggage tags.   Anne had left us a note saying she would escort us to our bags, so after we ate we gave here a call and met her in Gatsby's.  She then took the group out to our bags.  We used this last meeting to tip her for all her help.  All the VIP tagged bags were right at the foot of the escalator.  Had we known, we probably would have just walked down by ourselves.

Final review of our on board account.  Tips were as advertised $10/day per adult and $5/day per child.  We had gotten a friendly reminded letter that our concierge and butler were not included in standard tipping - we took care of them personally.  We also made sure to take care of Jose.  All in all there were no surprises, but it was still a bit of sticker shock when you see the total (forgot excursions included).

We paid $5 per bag to store bags at the Aloha Tower.  This was very convenient as our flight home was not until almost 9 PM.  We had the whole day to enjoy and luggage would be a major problem.

Back on Shore

We caught a cab to the Hilton, as we knew the area.  Hint - keep your room key if you stayed here before as you will need to show it to get a beach towel.  We spent the rest of the morning playing on the beach.

At about lunch we caught a cab over to the Waikiki Aquarium.  We knew it was smaller, but did not realize that there would be no place to eat.  We walked over to a nearby hotel which had a small snack bar.   We should have eaten at the Hilton.

The aquarium itself was quite impressive.  Especially considering it was only $7 for adults and $5 for children.  They give you these electronic information wands that you key in the number of the exhibit and it provides a narration about it - very nice.  They packed a lot of good exhibits in their limit space.  I believe this is the first time I have seen chambered nautilus swimming.   The jelly fish exhibit was also very unique.  Plan on spending about two hours to see the whole thing.

Be sure to have a number for a cab, as you will need to call them to come get you.  We waited for ours less than 10 minutes.  Then it was back to Hilton to buy last minute souvenirs and we were on our way home.  Stopped at the Aloha Tower and had dinner, retrieved our luggage - which only took about five minutes and our last cab ride to the airport.
